THE WORK

BEFORE THE VINES GO IN, THE DIRT GETS DONE.

Vines and orchards live or die by what happens under the surface. We deep-rip compacted ground so roots and water can actually penetrate, level and grade blocks for even irrigation, and shape drainage so winter rain moves off the rows instead of ponding in them.

For working ranches and farms we handle the broader earthwork: pasture leveling, pond and basin shaping, access grading between fields, and erosion control on the slopes. Four decades in this dirt, much of it agricultural.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

QUESTIONS WE GET.

Why does vineyard ground need ripping?

Years of compaction create a hard layer that roots and water cannot penetrate. Deep ripping fractures that layer so vines root deep, water infiltrates instead of running off, and the block establishes evenly. Doing it before planting costs a fraction of fixing a struggling vineyard after.

Do you prep land for orchards and row crops too?

Yes. The same ripping, leveling and drainage work applies to orchards, row crops and pasture. We grade to how you plant, irrigate and harvest, and we will walk the ground with you before quoting.

Can you fix drainage problems on ag land?

Yes. Standing water and washouts are grading problems: we reshape fall lines, cut swales and build up low spots so water moves where it should. Winter is often the best time to see the problem and plan the fix for the dry season.
